On Tuesday 6th Aug. 2024, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Hussein Awad Ali, met with the Malaysian Prime Minister, H.E. Anwar Ibrahim, in the Malaysian capital, Putrajaya, as part of his current visit to Malaysia.

During the meeting, the Minister conveyed two written messages from His Excellency the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan Abdelrahman, to both His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, the King of Malaysia, and to the Prime Minister.

Mr. Anwar Ibrahim was informed of the greetings from his brother, President al-Burhan, who praised the strong and brotherly relations between the two friendly countries. The Minister provided a comprehensive briefing on the latest developments in Sudan, noting that Sudan has pursued every avenue for peace to end the war and achieve stability. He also discussed the humanitarian situation in the country, reaffirming Sudan’s commitment to facilitating the delivery of aid and calling on international organizations to fulfill their promises of humanitarian assistance to Sudan.

The Minister expressed gratitude to the Malaysian government for creating the conditions to hold the “Sudan: The Forgotten War” conference, which led to the establishment of a humanitarian organization as a partnership between the two countries to provide aid to Sudan. He also appreciated the special migration program for Sudanese in Malaysia and the opening of Malaysian universities to Sudanese students who arrived during the war. Furthermore, the Minister urged the Prime Minister to resume the operations of the Malaysian diplomatic mission in Port Sudan as a gesture of solidarity with the Sudanese people.

For his part, the Malaysian Prime Minister requested that his greetings be conveyed to the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, reaffirming Malaysia’s support for Sudan during its crisis. He highlighted the deep historical ties between the two friendly nations.
