Press Statement
In retaliation to the heavy military defeats inflicted on the Janjaweed militia in Al-Jaily, Khartoum North, and El Fasher by the Sudanese Armed Forces and Supporting Forces, the RSF terrorist militia committed a new massacre today. This time, the victims were patients at the Saudi Hospital in El Fasher. Over 70 civilians, most of whom were women and children receiving treatment, were killed when the militia attacked the hospital’s emergency department using drones.
This brutal crime represents yet another manifestation of the genocidal strategy being carried out by the RSF militia against the Sudanese people.
There is no doubt that the militia’s continued commission of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide, with impunity, is a result of the international community’s leniency towards the militia and its sponsors. The failure of the Security Council to implement its resolution 2736 (2024) and compel the militia to adhere to the Jeddah Declaration of May 2023 has played a major role in these ongoing atrocities.
It is noteworthy that the RSF terrorist militia has increasingly relied on strategic drones to carry out its war crimes and massacres, as evidenced by its repeated attacks on power stations, water supplies, hospitals, and markets. The international community is fully aware of who supplies the militia with these drones and other advanced weapons, transporting them by air, sea, and land. It is time for the institutions of international justice and legitimacy to hold the militia’s sponsors accountable, as they are fully complicit in the militia’s terrorism and crimes.
